William Morris Orchard Pattern Metal Bookmark

Regular price $22.00

This William Morris Orchard Pattern metal bookmark is inspired by William Morris's acanthus leaf pattern. William Morris is widely recognized as the leading figure of the British Arts and Crafts movement. Our William Morris collection brings his iconic botanical and nature-inspired patterns into beautiful, museum-quality gifts and accessories for readers, art lovers, gardeners, and anyone who appreciates historic textile and decorative art.

Acanthus leaves were a pervasive motif in William Morris's work. His associate, John Henry Dearle, took them and added a vertical element in the fruit tree trunks to create the pattern, Orchard. It is reminiscent of the embroidered wall hangings designed by Dearle and Morris's younger daughter, Mary, in the late 1890s.
